Norfolkline introduces iDEAL as a payment mechanism for online ferry booking
The Hague, November 3rd 2009
Norfolkline has today introduced iDEAL, the popular Dutch online payment mechanism, as a payment option for passenger ferry booking on its English Channel, Irish Sea & North Sea ferry routes.
Norfolkline's English Channel route between Dunkirk & Dover has proven increasingly popular with Dutch customers in recent years with the combination of our high quality fleet, low prices, and the short driving distances between Dunkirk and The Netherlands proving a hit with both the native Dutch and the large ex-pat community living in The Netherlands.
The recently introduced route from Zeebrugge (Belgium) to Scotland (Rosyth) is also proving popular with Dutch customers as are our Irish Sea routes (especially anglers & golfers looking to avail of the excellent facilities in Ireland), so enabling iDEAL as a zero cost payment option will no doubt prove popular from Maastricht to Groningen.
iDEAL is a standardised payment method that has been developed in The Netherlands for making secure online payments directly between bank accounts and Norfolkline customers with access to the online banking facilities of ABN AMRO, ASN Bank, Fortis, Friesland Bank, ING, Rabobank, SNS Bank or SNS Regio Bank can now make payments for ferry travel on all Norfolkline's ferry routes.
How does iDEAL work?
iDEAL is easy to use and Norfolkline customers that have online banking facilities for Dutch bank accounts select to use this option in the same way that they would any of the other payment options available on Norfolkline's websites
- When selecting their sailing the customer can select iDEAL as their planned payment mechanism
- On the payment page the customer then selects their bank from the options available
- Their bank's online banking environment then opens and the customer simply authorises the pre-filled payment instruction
- As soon as payment has been authorised, the amount due is debited from the customer’s account and transferred to Norfolkline, and the customer is presented with their Norfolkline booking confirmation
