Norfolkline buoyed by demand

March 18th 2009

Ferry operator Norfolkline is buoyant over public response to its plans to reinstate the Rosyth to Zeebrugge continental link in May 2009, with over 50 per cent of its bookings for May already sold.

Consumer interest is high and demand is such that as well as Pullman seats being available for foot passengers, from the end of March Norfolkline will introduce a Pullman option for car and other vehicle types as well, subject to availability.

Route director, Bas Van Helden, said:

“The response from the Scottish market to this launch has been extremely positive and we are listening to what people are telling us they want from the service. Our priority is to put in place a business plan that is sustainable for the long term, but we are constantly evaluating and, where it is viable, introducing new offers and products in response to demand.”

The route will be serviced by a brand new vessel, the Scottish Viking, currently under construction in Italy and due to commence sea trials at the beginning of May.

The first sailing from Scotland to the continent is on schedule for 19 May 2009.
